Workshop Guide Questions for Philippine Agenda PDF Print E-mail

Assumption/Rationale behind the Matrix of 7 Philippine Agendas and the Workshop for the Philippine Agenda:

In order for the participants to the Island Consultations to come up with a Philippine Agenda for Migration and Development, there is no need for them to start from scratch or “to reinvent the wheel”, so to speak.  Just in the past five years, there have been several very substantive Agendas/Programs for Action  for the Philippines drafted  and  agreed on by various stakeholders involved in migration and development in different conferences (both international and local).

NOTE to all workshop participants of the Island Consultations:
Please go over the following documents before the start of the workshop for the Philippine Agenda for Migration and Development:

1.1.    Matrix of 7 Philippine Agendas/Programs for Migration and Development (from Past Conferences/Forums Organized/Sponsored in the Past 5 Years).

1.2.    Summary of Key Agenda Points Gleaned from the Matrix of 7 Agendas for Migration and Development.

Guide Questions to help workshop participants to come up with the Philippine Agenda for Migration and Development:

  • 1. After going over the 31-item key agenda points gleaned from the Matrix of 7 Agendas for Migration and Development (please refer to “Summary of Key Agenda Points…..”), are there any other critical points regarding migration and development that were missed from the Summary but mentioned in the Matrix of the 7 Agendas?  (Please limit to a maximum of five critical points.)
  • Questions for Philippine Agenda Discussion
  • 2. Now, again,  going over these 31 plus (if other critical points have been added during the workshop) key agenda points,  please discuss and decide on fifteen (15) key agenda points that the Island Consultations’ participants/participating organizations and the other stakeholders in migration and development (e.g. Philippine Governments, multilateral agencies, etc.) should/would focus their efforts/interventions/advocacy  in the next five years.
  • 3. After discussing and deciding on  the 15 key agenda points,  discuss and decide on a per key agenda point basis, one or two (but not more than five) action points/advocacies/interventions/statements of principles  and recommendations to other stakeholders (again, please refer to the Matrix) that the participants/participating organizations believe should  constitute the Island Consultations’ Philippine Agenda for Migration and Development for the next five years.
  • 4. As a group, would the participants of the Island Consultations  like to add an agenda item/action point (not included in the Matrix) to the Philippine  Agenda for Migration and Development?
